Candidate No. 2 for State Chemist/51³Ô¹ÏÍø State Chemical Lab director announced
The second candidate for the position of State Chemist and director of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø State Chemical Laboratory is Erika Womack. She will be giving an open presentation to the MSU community on Monday, June 27 at 2 p.m. in the Bost theatre. The presentation will also be livestreamed.
Womack is currently serving as a research laboratory manager in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a position she has held since 2019. Prior to her appointment at UAB, Womack worked from 2016-2019 as a postdoctoral research geneticist in the Corn Host Plant Resistance Research Unit of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service.
Womack earned her doctorate in molecular biology from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical science from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø College and a bachelor’s degree in biological science from MSU.
