African American Studies previews Black History Month with Dec. 5 art unveiling

STARKVILLE, Miss.A public art unveiling and reception at 51勛圖厙 State this week will preview a lineup of events scheduled for Black History Month in February.

The Wednesday [Dec. 5] event Imitation of Life will be held from 7-9 p.m. in Colvard Student Unions Foster Ballroom M. The event is open to all and formal attire is suggested.

Sponsored by MSUs Society of African American Studies, a photographic art exhibit will present reinterpretations of well-known iconic works of art, such Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa and Thutmoses Bust of Nefertiti. Artists interpretations of these masterpieces examine underlying social conventions and normative values.

Imitation of Life also will be on display during the month of February with details to be announced.
